E-book Reader Information
The Pixelar MReader is an open source format ebook reader, and as such it allows you to read a huge range of digital content. It enables you to 'carry' almost as many books, magazines, and documents as you like (including RSS feed downloads). It is a robust, yet elegant device, which is slim and as light as a single paperback book.
We do not subscribe to the philosophy of selling a heavily discounted machine and tying you in to a single pay per download website, wherein prices are often excessive.
We believe that customers are wiser than that- nor do we believe that LCD screens in any format, tablet/smart phones or otherwise, can yield a comfortable long-term reading experience.
Our aim is to offer a competitively priced quality ereader, that is flexible to use, and reads many different formats without restriction .
Pixelar will continue to develop products along these lines with our supplier partners, in a fast developing market. We have many new exciting products planned for the coming year.
We do not believe that currently available ereader hardware/firmware can provide a satisfactory browsing experience, when compared to other readily available devices.
The unit comes with a built in wifi module(note larger than average battery) which will be activated via future firmware updates for direct connection to a bookstore(s) and for 'push' e-news.
The best and proven chipset solution we have found incorporating wifi ability is the Samsung S3C2440 400MHz, yielding a max SD card size of 4GB and an internal memory of 256MB-enough for 4000 books per 4GB SD card, and 250+ books on the internal memory.

The MReader currently only supports Mobipocket in non-DRM.
